Herpes simplex virus infections in adults (HSV-1 and HSV-2) are a type of viral infection that affects millions of people worldwide. HSV-1 and HSV-2 can cause mild outbreaks of fever, pain, and inflammation. The signs and symptoms of HSV-1 and HSV-2 infection are similar, although HSV-1 is more common. HSV-1 infection usually starts in the mouth or throat. HSV-2 infection usually starts in the mouth, throat, or eyes.
Take this medication by mouth, with or without food, as directed by your doctor. To help you remember, take it as directed by your doctor. You may take this medication after a high-fat meal. A high-fat meal is better.
Common side effects of herpes virus infections may include:
– Allergic reactions including rash, itching, swelling, trouble breathing, or trouble swallowing may occur. Seek medical help right away if you experience these or any other serious side effects.
– Gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite) and headache may occur. If you experience these or any unusual symptoms while you are using this medication, stop and seek medical help right away. These side effects are usually mild and may go away after you stop using herpes virus infection.
– Liver damage may occur, especially in patients with severe liver impairment. If you experience any of the following symptoms while you are taking this medication, stop and seek medical help right away. These symptoms may go away with time.
– If you are pregnant, may become pregnant, or is breast-feeding, please inform your doctor before you taking this medication. It is recommended that you consult with your doctor about the use of this medication during pregnancy. Also, it is not known whether this medication passes into breast milk or if it may harm a infant.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C).
Food and Drugs
Do not take it more than once a day. Taking this medication more than once a day may damage your kidneys and can lead to serious side effects. If you have not told your doctor about any other prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, tell your doctor. This drug may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Medical Conditions
If you are allergic to acyclovir, valaciclovir, foscarnet, ginkoosterion, lercanidipine, levofloxacin, or any other medications. See also section 4.8.8.8.4.8.2.3.2.3.3.2.3.2.3.3.2.3.4.1.1. 25 mcg of valaciclovir, (not applicable) 1,2-dimethylmethylacrylate.
If you are using this medication to treat HSV-2 infection, you may also need to take it for cold sores, which may also cause an allergic reaction, swelling, and difficulty breathing. See also section 4.8.8.5.8.4.2.3.2.3.3.2.3.2.3.3.2.3.2.3.3.2.3.2.3.2.4, (not applicable) 10,000,000 doses (over the counter) of valaciclovir.
If you are using acyclovir to treat HSV-1 infection, you may also need to take for long periods of time to help the virus return to normal activity. See also section 4.8.8.8.5.8.4.2.3.2.3.2.3.3.2.3.2.3.2.3.3.2, (not applicable) 1,2-dimethylmethylacrylate.

Take the medication at the same times every day for maximum benefit. Do not skip any dose, or stop this medication early without consulting your doctor. Always drink enough water while taking Zovirax to prevent the chances of dehydration and kidney damage.
